Idea for Music Video

In today's meeting, the group have, for now, decided to focus on the two songs that we feel have stronger visuals and ideas behind them. However,we haven't completely dismissed the other song choice - Bass Phenomenon. In the meeting, we further developed ideas to go with the different songs and delegated jobs.

1) Takin' It Over - as the song is Latino/Spanish, we really like the idea of shooting the music video in Mercado, as well as on busses, in market places and possibly grimey streets, as this will create a real contrast between the glamorous lifestyle of sexy/spanish dancers and the reality of it being their job. This will also give us an individual style by having the location in a spanish/mexican bar. The visuals would be very strong - lots of bright colours, fancy costumes with glitter and feathers, and there would also be a narrative: female dancers portrayed as cheeky but sexy (us/Mercado dancers) getting glammed up and their journey to work on busses, walking down streets (through the market) and in the bar dancing/working, and then the video ending with them laughing, holding hands, running, skipping home.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO - we need to check that it's possible to hire out Mercado and how we can get hold of suitable costumes before developing this idea.

2) Shake Your Coconuts - Again, we like the idea for this video being really tongue n cheek, possibly a sleezy guy (1950's British man) with his troop of girls or we can have someone dressed up as a monkey. The video could begin with a lift opening with the man/monkey and the girls walking out of it - immediately grabbing the audience's attention, and similarly to the other idea, the narrative could be of the guy/monkey and his troop of girls' journey. We discussed having lots of beach iconography, such as beach balls, bikinis and hula skirts and shooting some of the video on a bus so it looks like the group are heading for the beach, however they end up going to an indoor beach in London. There would again be lots of dancing, and people playing different instruments.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO - Check locations for indoor beach and search for monkey costumes.

3) Bass Phenomenon - In today's meeting, the ideas for a video for this song were the weakest, as we agreed that the video would need a lot of shots in order to cut to the music. However, we did come up with some ideas, for example Gee thought of having people pie-ing eachother (like in Bugsy Malone) and shooting some of the video in a club using neon lights. As the song is fast paced with a strong beat, we like the idea of people being chased/chasing other people, whilst wearing masks - this could look creepy or not. However, overall this would need to have very precise editing and lots of shots in order to sustain audience attention.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO - as we don't have a particular narrative, if we want to use this song, we need to come up with a strong idea that enables us to portray a unique style.

Jobs to do
Gee - elaborate on an idea for Bass Phenomenon
Jaz - check to see if it's possible to hire out Mercado
Nat - search for costumes
Clare - search for indoor beaches
Nina - think of more ideas for any of the songs
